Nier Automata DLC Lets You Fight SquareEnix and Platinum Games CEOs

first_img Nier: Automata isn’t afraid to break the fourth wall if the occasion calls for it. To that end, the game’s upcoming DLC will allow players to face off against two real-life bosses: Square Enix president and CEO Yosuke Matsuda and Platinum Games president and CEO Kenichi Sato.As pointed out by EuroGamer, these two executives aren’t canon to the game. The quest giver tells players “What you’re about to see may end up destroying your sense of immersion. Are you okay with that?” Players can choose either “Immersion schmimmersion!” or “I most certainly am not.” If they choose the first option, they’ll get this.Yosuke Matsuda unleashes a flood of harmful purple orbs when players are far, and a series of lightning-fast kicks when they get in close. Kenichi Sato appears out of thin air when Matsuda’s health is around fifty percent. The Platinum Games president has similar attacks to that of the Square-Enix CEO. Both are formidable on their own, but when they combine their powers, they give players one hell of a challenge.Having the bosses of each of the companies behind Nier: Automata be in-game bosses is genius. Not only is it just plain cool, but now players can beat up on these virtual executives whenever each company does something they aren’t happy with. That’s certainly better than leaving them mean-spirited comments on Twitter. Also, I can imagine Square-Enix and Platinum Games employees also letting out their frustrations on their virtual bosses. Don’t think that hasn’t crossed anyone’s mind. The 3C3C1D119440927 DLC (yes, that is its actual name) will also have three new coliseums. These arenas were previously hidden behind locked doors which were guarded by self-destructing robots. Players will be unable to use items while playing through these arenas. Upon completing each challenge, players will unlock new costumes, hair dye, new records for the game’s jukebox, and more. All of this is detailed over on the PlayStation Blog. There’s no set date for when this DLC will be released, but Square-Enix promises that it will be soon.
