first_imgCatherine Gillis has been appointed a Crown attorney in the Antigonish office of the Public Prosecution Service. The appointment was announced today, July 13, by Martin Herschorn, director of Public Prosecutions. “Ms. Gillis’s experience and energy will be a valuable addition to our team of Crown attorneys,” said Mr. Herschorn. A native of Antigonish, Ms. Gillis graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in 2003 and went on to Dalhousie Law School, graduating in 2006. She articled with T.W. Gorman Law Office in Antigonish before joining the Antigonish office of Nova Scotia Legal Aid in 2007 as a staff lawyer. While at Nova Scotia Legal Aid, Ms. Gillis concentrated on criminal and family law. Ms. Gillis is a member of the board of Antigonish Women’s Resource Centre and has done volunteer work for Dalhousie Legal Aid and the Bryony House Women’s Shelter in Halifax.
