Australia had stunned India on a raging turner in Pune before India took the upper hand after a dog fight at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.After four days of heated battle, Australia were chasing 188 to take an unbeatable 2-0 lead. They were on course too – at 73 for 3 with Steve Smith and Peter Handscomb in the middle, Australia fancied their chances. And then Umesh Yadav rapped Smith on the pads. The Indians appealed loudly and umpire Nigel Llong had little doubt when he raised his finger to signal the end of Steve Smith’s innings. Smith walked down the pitch to discuss the use of the Decision Review System with Handscomb.And then began one of the greatest turmoil on a cricket field.Steve Smith looked up to the dressing room for help with the DRS and Virat Kohli, the Indian captain immediately charged towards the umpires, who asked Smith to walk off. According to rules, players can consult only on the field and seek no external help for the DRS. Smith was sent back but Kohli was left furming.Oddly, Australian commentators on air suggested Smith was not aware of the rules.
