Police on West Bank Demerara (WBD) are still on the hunt for the suspect in the murder of 38-year-old John Choong, who formerly resided at Sisters Village, WBD.This was revealed to Guyana Times by Police on Monday.Deceased: John ChoongChoong, a father of three, sustained head injuries during an altercation with the suspect at a dominoes competition on Father’s Day and died two days later while receiving treatment at the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH).After the man’s demise, the suspect, who was said to be in his early 20s, went into hiding, fearing that he would be incarcerated for the man’s demise.Choong was a worker at the Wales Sugar Estate up to 2017. However, he later took up employment as a hire car operator to provide for his family.This publication was told that Choong would often play dominoes at Sideline Dam, Sisters Village on weekends with other men in the area.Reports were that some time after midnight on June 16, 2018, Choong and the suspect got into an argument and then a scuffle.The now dead man was reportedly pushed into a nearby drain where he hit his head.It was further reported that Choong received 10 stiches to his head before being released from the WDRH on June 17.He, however, went back to the Hospital on June 18 to clean the wound. On June 19, when he revisited the medical facility, he was admitted and succumbed one day later. A post-mortem proved that he died as a result of cerebral haemorrhage.This newspaper also reported that the late Choong and the suspect had settled the matter before Choong’s wound turned septic. Choong’s spouse is a housewife and it is said that she is very distressed over her family’s future. The taxi driver was buried last week.
