Previous Article Next Article Skillset awarded first SSC licenceOn 19 Mar 2002 in Personnel Today The first official licence for a Sector Skills Council has been formallyawarded to Skillset, the body that will represent the audio-visual industries. John Healey, the minister for adult skills, presented the licence toSkillset and pledged £1m a year to help raise skills in the sector. The SSCs, which cover the retail, audio-visual broadcasting, land-basedindustries, clothing and textiles and the petrochemical sectors, have replacedthe National Training Organisations. Healey said: “In its new enhanced role, Skillset can now officiallystart leading the drive to boost skills and workforce development in theaudio-visual industries. I know it will set an example to other employmentsectors in providing tangible benefits to the industry it serves. The organisation’s first two major initiatives will be the launch of adedicated career advice helpline and a skills investment fund for filmtrainees. www.skillset.org Related posts:No related photos.
