Eaga to please its partners with record bonuses

Previous Article Next Article A UK-based social services company has awarded its 750 staff a bonus paymentworth more than two-and-a-half months’ salary – an amount it claims is one ofthe most generous in Europe. Eaga Partnership, which came 28th in this year’s Sunday Times Best 100Companies to Work For survey, is an employee-owned company. Staff becomepartners in the business after 12 months’ service, qualifying them for a shareof the company’s profits. Its bonus structure follows the model of John Lewis Partnership, whose staffrecently received its highest bonus payout in recent history, at six weeks’salary. Dave Routledge, director of organisational development at Eaga, said:”If we researched the number of companies in western Europe willing todistribute 21.5 per cent of annual salary to every member of staff, the answerwould be close to nil. Few ever take the opportunity to share the worth theirstaff create.” A recent survey of 365 HR professionals from The Work Foundation showed 77per cent of UK employers have a bonus scheme, but only 38 per cent offeredbonuses to the whole workforce. Eaga manages programmes on behalf of central government, devolvedadministrations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, utilities and socialhousing providers, and private customers.
