Armstrong is strongest at Tri-State

(April 22) – With rain close to home, Drew Armstrong made the trip from Alexander, Ark. to win Saturday’s IMCA Modified feature at Tri-State Speedway.Chuck Bumgarner and Michael Hines rounded out the top three.Racing starts at 8 p.m. on April 29. Both the pit gates and grandstand open at 5 p.m. The drivers’ meeting is at 7 p.m. with hot laps at 7:30 p.m.last_img

Scott Saunders, 61, Wellington: July 25, 1953 – May 25, 2015

first_imgScott SaundersScott Saunders, of Wellington, died Monday, May 25, 2015 at his home at the age of 61.Scott was born the son of Joseph and Franceta Mae (Hill) Saunders on Saturday, July 25, 1953 in Wellington. The family later moved to Arizona where he graduated from Maryville High School in Phoenix, Arizona and then received an Associates Degree from the Glendale Community College. Golf was the love of Scott’s life. Following high school, Scott dedicated his career to the golf industry and spent the past few years as a greens keeper at the Wellington Golf Course. Survivors include his brother, Sam Saunders (Dixie) of Buckeye, Arizona, brother, Jeff Saunders (Sylvia) of Port St. Lucie, Florida, sister, Kristin Mitchell (Bart) of Winfield, sister, Evie Saunders of Washington D.C. along with an extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Franceta Saunders and his sister, Kim (Saunders) Mensch.The family asks that you join with them in remembering Scott on Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Day Funeral Home & Crematory, Wellington. A memorial fund has been established in his loving memory to the Wellington Golf Course.
