Merci My Hero, love you.’Despite the bitter end to a glittering career, Cech insisted he was proud of everything he has achieved in the game and had no regrets.‘I’m proud of myself and I’m proud of the way I played today because when you play your last career game in the final there is a lot of pressure and speculation,’ he told BT Sport after the game.‘I had to perform and I have to say I have done everything I can, and I can look back with no regrets apart from the fact we worked so hard all year to finish with nothing. ‘This group of players do not deserve it because of how much work has been done this season.‘It is easy to say we finish empty-handed but I can assure everyone that the work we have done will mean this team comes back much stronger next year.’ Petr Cech’s final game as a professional ended in defeat as Arsenal were beaten 4-1 by Chelsea in the Europa League final (Picture: Getty)Didier Drogba admitted it ‘broke his heart’ to watch Petr Cech’s career end in tears as Arsenal were crushed 4-1 by Chelsea in last night’s Europa League final. The 37-year-old announced his intention to retire earlier this season and has been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge as the club’s technical director. There was no fairy tale end to his playing career, however, in Baku as Chelsea demolished their north London rivals, scoring four times in a devastating 23-minute second half spell.Cech, one of the few Arsenal players to emerge with any credit following a meek capitulation, was left disconsolate at the final whistle which was almost too much for his former Chelsea teammate Drogba to take.AdvertisementAdvertisementADVERTISEMENT About Connatix V67539 Metro Sport ReporterThursday 30 May 2019 8:48 amShare this article via facebookShare this article via twitterShare this article via messengerShare this with Share this article via emailShare this article via flipboardCopy link69Shares PLAY center_img Video Settings More: FootballRio Ferdinand urges Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to drop Manchester United starChelsea defender Fikayo Tomori reveals why he made U-turn over transfer deadline day moveMikel Arteta rates Thomas Partey’s chances of making his Arsenal debut vs Man City Advertisement Emery reacts to Arsenal’s 4-1 loss to Chelsea in Europa League finalTo view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Play VideoLoaded: 0%0:00Progress: 0%PlayMuteCurrent Time 0:00/Duration Time 9:05FullscreenEmery reacts to Arsenal’s 4-1 loss to Chelsea in Europa League final is a modal window.Beginning of dialog window.
